In philosophical definitions, free will is the ability to make choices for oneself and to act willfully towards it. In the society run by Napoleon, the animals' personal free will is constantly being eliminated slowly. The commandments which acted as their source of rights has been diminished. The concept of free will is important in order for individuals to reach success. When free will is suppressed the animals are unable to unleash their true potential. They are unable to reason and to establish their unique ideas. They only follow the goal of Napoleon which results in an oppressive government for the governments. Free will encourages equality amongst civilization and in the particular case of Animal Farm, free will does not exist.

This song by Michael Jackson " they don't care about us" reflects the environment on Animal Farm. Although the animals are not bright enough to realize that Napoleon gives orders for his wants, these actions shows that he doesn't care about his people. In Michael Jackson's song, he sings about the poverty and the suffering of people but simply the higher ups or the governments show no care for these people and carry out actions for their own needs. This song reflects how Napoleon does everything for his wants but not showing any care for the people in this case the animals of Animal Farm excluding the pigs. This song expresses the mentality that the animals should have if they want to recover their free will and defeat the wrath of Napoleon so they can flourish as Animal Farm.
